Barbara Tfank’s elegant dresses radiate beauty and happiness

Once again, American fashion designer Barbara Tfank creates a collection that shows beauty and grace, the perfect attire for the stylish woman. Rich brocades, soft velvets, sumptuous satins, are all a part of the luxury fabrics to behold in Barbara Tfank’s latest presentation for fall 2017.  At first glance the collection seems to be overwhelmed with neutral colors such as black, navy, or gray; fitting for cocktail or evening attire. But when a closer look is taken, the intricate details that are part of each piece are jewel like and have sparkle much like precious gems.  Barbara Tfank’s eyes light up when she tells us her inspiration this season comes from her love of fashion - a long infatuation; she has been a master of all things stylish since her childhood, having grown up in the always fashion forward New York metropolitan area.

As Barbara Tfank points out, her creations are meant to become more than extraordinary garments. “At this point in time I pause to reflect and ponder what value fashion holds. Feeling wonderful in one’s clothes can be uplifting and speak a thousand words about how we feel and who we are. A dress can hold the most intimate stories, and a favorite dress worn many times silently records moments of deep emotion as if written in the weave of the fabric… special moments that come to mind like the flicker of silent film. There is an intimacy between the wearer and the dress, an agreement to coexist and record these instances of togetherness. It tells a story about us, who we are, what we value, what is beautiful and what brings us delight.“

Even without hearing her explain it, it is obvious that Ms. Tfank’s love and talent for styling is evident at each stage in her collection. And her sense for details is extremely important. This season’s show was presented in a beautiful townhouse in the upper east side of New York City with winding staircase, wooden floors and a skylight which were all reminiscent of visiting a French pied a terre. The models in Tfank’s presentation had a clean look, with a bold cat eye, soft blush and a hint of color on the lip. Hair was neatly pulled back off the face to accentuate the neckline of her beautiful garments. Hemlines were at an elegant point, longer and in a sophisticated line. Necklines were simple and feminine, and accessories were at a minimum to allow the dresses to sparkle on their own, in a modern, minimalistic way.

Imagine owning a lovely piece from the collection: wearing the black cocktail dress with beaded sleeves to a party at the embassy, or the tweed ensemble – pencil skirt with matching jacket trimmed in black leather – accessorized with long black gloves for an important business luncheon. The designer’s gowns are equally spectacular, reserved for the most formal of occasions, one with black top and tulle skirt, embellished with sparkle and shine in turquoise and black worn to an incredibly posh charity gala. With this said, Barbara’s pieces can be worn casually, the brocade opera coat over a crisp white shirt and jeans make any daytime errand more elegant. But every woman is special when dressed in the beautiful creations from Barbara Tfank.
