Sierra Boggess is Christine in Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Phantom of the Opera in Paris

Born in Denver, Colorado, Ms. Boggess was eager for any opportunity to perform; choir member as a young girl, drama company in high school, musical theater in college, she was passionate about being on stage.   Sierra Boggess is well known in the United States and around the world for her lyrical voice, most notably for the title role of Disney’s The Little Mermaid on Broadway. Her other Broadway appearances include School of Rock—The Musical, It Shoulda Been You, and Master Class; and in Europe, her West End credits include the sequel to Phantom, Love Never Dies and Les Miserables.  While she has performed many notable shows, once again performing the role of Christine Daae in Andrew Loyd-Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera in the beautiful city of Paris, will bring her back to the role she says she loves the most. 

It was when Miss Boggess, was in the London production of the Phantom sequel Love Never Dies that she first visited the city of lights.  While only in Paris for four days, she knew that someday she had to return.  This fall she has been given the opportunity to play the iconic role where the musical takes place.  “My entire being trembled with excitement when I heard the news – this is a show I know forwards and backwards, to be offered the opportunity to perform it in French is thrilling!” This latest installment of Phantom in Paris is set to open at the Mogador Theatre in October; celebrating its 30th anniversary, it will be the first time the show plays in French.  Ms Boggess has been working with a linguistic expert from France, to ensure her correct pronunciation of the script.  “Being able to play Christine in France is a great honor for me, and I want to make sure everything is pronounced perfectly; I want to honor the French language.”

Phantom of the Opera is the longest-running show in Broadway history and one of the most successful stage productions of all-time, with the New York production in over 11,000 performances.  Miss Boggess is excited to be able to reprise the role that introduced her to the professional theater world when she was hired to play a part in the Las Vegas production in 2006.  She has played Christine on Broadway, in London, and Andrew Lloyd-Weber himself requested that she reprise her role for the 25th anniversary in London’s Royal Albert Hall.  Coming to Paris directly from another show, School of Rock-The Musical on Broadway, Sierra says she is ready to perform Phantom. She takes the opportunity to practice her singing every day, and it always includes a piece from Phantom.  It is due to her enthusiasm for the role and excitement for being in France that her audience is guaranteed that she will be amazing in the role and that the viewers who get to see her will be very fortunate indeed.
